Physical Plant
The Physical Plant group covers several areas important to the maintenance and development of UUCOV property. They are grounds, buildings & sanctuary, and sound systems. All are important – they structure the environment for our worship experience. The group is always looking for people who want to help in these activities.
Richard Palmer handles project budgeting and, if necessary, provides a loose coordination between groups. He also handles contracts with outside maintenance services and works with the board where unusual repair situations occur.
Charlie Meyers currently provides lead expertise on how maintenance and development projects are handled and Richard supports Charlie in coordination and funding.
Dick Smith manages the sound systems for the church and is supported by an enthusiastic committee that manages audio issues for each worship service.
Bob Allen is in charge of landscaping. He and the landscaping crew meet on Mondays.
If you are interested in helping, please contact Richard Palmer.

Physical Plant News
Sexton Needed
Recently due to an increased work load, UUCOV's Security Consultant, Sue Ewell, resigned from her Sunday morning duties at UUCOV. Sue provided excellent services as a security consultant, for which we are all most appreciative; specifically she identified a number of precautions that our congregation can undertake to ensure our safety. The Board of Trustees will be implementing her suggestions over the next months.
UUCOV desperately needs someone to take on the responsibilities that Sue was originally hired to do. Specifically, UUCOV needs someone to open and close the Sanctuary each Sunday morning. If you are interested in taking on this responsibility or if you know someone who might be, please contact the UUCOV office.
Memorial Garden Expands
In the next few months work will commence on the space between the current Helen Spencer Lynch Memorial Garden and the pond, to be more specific, the yard behind the Asta Linder House. What will result is an expanded UUCOV Memorial Garden.
Designed by UUCOV's Master Gardener, Bob Allen, the space will be a transition from the more formal Lynch Garden to the natural Florida environment of the pond. It will take advantage of the beautiful oak tree that we all enjoy and will feature an extension of the current walkway from the Lynch Garden to the rear of the Asta Linder House. All plants will be Florida friendly.
